SC stays HC order on email nominations in West Bengal Panchayat Elections

Supreme Court sets aside the Calcutta High Court order that aked West Bengal Election Commission to accept nominations for Panchayat Polls through email.

The court said election will be held on May 14, as per earlier schedule. The Court also asked State Election Commission & State Government to ensure free and fair polls. the Court asked State Election Commission to issue notification on declaration of results till July 3.

Earlier On Tuesday, the High Court had asked SEC to accept nominations of CPM candidates who had emailed their nomination papers within the deadline of 3 pm on April 23.
