The problem

Right now, somebody else is answering your clients’ questions

We ran the test in September 2026. Five ordinary legal questions, put to an AI assistant with live web access, every source recorded.

Contract disputes

Adobe took three of nine sources

On “what happens if you break an NDA”, a software company held three of the nine sources cited. Two contract software vendors and a Quora thread took most of the rest. The firms who litigate these disputes sat below all of it.

Trademarks

A student’s upload, and no USPTO

On “how long does a trademark last”, the top two sources were filing services. Further down sat a video and an uploaded university assignment. The office that actually administers trademark renewals did not appear at all.

Estate work

Where firms do win

On “who can override a power of attorney”, five genuine estate practices ranked properly. Same profession, same kind of question, opposite outcome. These pages are winnable. Most practice areas simply have not tried.

What we do

Six things, done properly, in the order that pays

No retainer full of activity you cannot evaluate. Every engagement starts with the work that moves the needle fastest for your particular firm.

01

Law firm SEO

Practice area pages rewritten to answer the question in the first two sentences, technical problems fixed, internal linking rebuilt, and the client questions nobody at your firm has written about yet turned into pages that rank.

02

Local SEO for lawyers

Google Business Profile, location pages that are not thin duplicates of each other, review strategy, and the map pack work that decides who gets the call in a city where nine other firms do the same thing.

03

AI visibility and citation

Making sure the assistants can reach your site, that your pages are structured so an answer can be lifted from them, and that your firm is present in the places these systems actually read.

04

Content only a practitioner could write

The statutory position is everywhere already. What is nowhere is what actually happens in a matter. We get that out of your lawyers in short interviews and publish it under their names.

05

Website and technical work

Speed, structure, crawlability, structured data, and the bot protection settings that lock AI crawlers out of firm websites far more often than anyone realises.

06

Enquiries, not just traffic

Intake forms that people finish, landing pages built around one decision, tracking that tells you which page produced the matter, and follow up that does not read like a sales sequence.

Why us

A publisher who does this work, not an agency that read about it

Legal Desire has published legal industry news and analysis since 2012. More than twenty thousand stories, twelve thousand tracked deals, read by lawyers, general counsel and firm partners in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Gulf. Two thousand lawyers and firms publish with us.

That matters for three practical reasons.

  • We have spent fourteen years finding out what makes legal content get read, linked to and quoted. Not in theory. On our own traffic, every week.
  • We know what the legal press picks up, because we are the legal press. Coverage is something we can talk about honestly rather than promise vaguely.
  • We have no interest in selling you activity. If your top ten pages need a rewrite and nothing else, that is what we will tell you, and it is a small piece of work.

How it runs

What working together actually looks like

  1. A call, and an honest read

Thirty minutes. You tell us what is not working. We tell you whether it is a marketing problem, a website problem, or a positioning problem, and whether it needs us at all.

  2. The diagnosis

We audit what you have and research what your market is actually searching for, with real volumes and competition scores. You get a written plan with the work ranked by what returns fastest. This stands on its own, and it is yours whether or not you go further.

  3. The first ninety days

Technical fixes and the ten pages that matter most, because that is where the fastest movement is. You see weekly progress, not a monthly report written to look busy.

  4. Compounding

New pages on the questions your clients ask, the practitioner content that earns citations, and the visibility work that keeps you in front of both search and the assistants.

Questions

What firms ask us before they start

How long does law firm SEO take to work?

Technical fixes and rewritten practice pages usually move within four to eight weeks, because the pages already exist and already have some authority. Genuinely new content on questions you have never covered takes three to six months. Anyone promising faster than that on a competitive practice area is selling you something they cannot deliver.

What is the difference between SEO and AI visibility?

Search puts ten links in front of someone and lets them choose. An AI assistant reads the web, writes one answer, and credits a handful of sources. There is no list to appear in. The work overlaps a great deal, because both reward a page that answers the question directly and is written by somebody who clearly knows the subject. The difference is that AI visibility also depends on whether the crawlers can reach your site at all, which is where a surprising number of firm websites quietly fail.

Do you guarantee first page rankings?

No, and neither can anybody else. What we will do is tell you before you spend anything whether the queries you care about are winnable, with the real search volumes and competition scores in front of you. Some are sitting almost unclaimed. Some are not worth the money. You should know which is which before you sign anything.

Will you write the content, or do we?

Both, and the split matters. We write the structural, explanatory and technical material. The part that actually earns citations, what you have seen happen repeatedly in your own matters, has to come from a lawyer at your firm. We run that as a short interview and write it up, so it costs a partner about forty minutes rather than an afternoon.

Do you work with firms outside the United States?

Yes. Our readership sits across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Gulf, and so does the client work. Search behaviour and competition differ sharply between those markets, so the research is always run against the market you actually sell into.

Who does the work?

Anuj Kumar leads every engagement personally, with a small team on production. You are not handed to an account manager after the pitch, and you have his email address from the first conversation.

We reply to every enquiry ourselves. No sales sequence, no chatbot, and your details go nowhere else.
