Workers Compensation Benefit Calculator

Estimate the weekly wage replacement benefit for a work injury, using the two thirds of average weekly wage rule that most US states apply, and see how a state maximum changes it.

Most states pay two thirds (66.67 percent) of your average weekly wage for temporary total disability, subject to a state maximum that is updated every year. A few states use a different percentage. Enter your state's current maximum if you know it.

What this covers

Temporary total disability, the benefit paid while you cannot work at all. Partial disability, permanent impairment awards and vocational benefits are calculated differently.

The waiting period

Most states do not pay wage benefits for the first three to seven days of disability. If you are out beyond a longer threshold, many states pay those first days retroactively.

Medical care is separate

Treatment for an accepted work injury is generally paid in full by the insurer and is not deducted from the wage benefit calculated here.

This is a general estimate, not legal advice or a benefit determination. Maximum and minimum weekly rates, replacement percentages, waiting periods and how the average weekly wage is computed all vary by state and change annually. Confirm the current figures with your state workers compensation agency or a lawyer before relying on them.
