Latham & Watkins advised Stormlight Holdings (Stormlight) in a significant investment into Swansea City Football Club. Stormlight’s chairman and CEO, Jake Silverstein, has been appointed to the club’s Board of Directors.
Stormlight’s investment has been matched with additional funds from the entity controlled by majority shareholders Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien.
Stormlight is also the co-owner of MLS side Houston Dynamo and NWSL Cup winners Houston Dash.
The Latham deal team was led by London corporate partner Ed Barnett, Century City entertainment, sports & media partner Adam Sullins, and London associate Alex McCarney. London partner Sanjev Warna-kula-suriya and Hong Kong associate Michael Hardy advised on the financing for the transaction.
