DealDatabase.co is a free, searchable record of which law firms advised on which deals. It holds 10,849 law firm deal announcements from 2018 to today, covering 656 firms and 34,548 named lawyers, and you can filter them by deal type, sector and jurisdiction. You can search, browse and read the source announcements without an account. The paid plans add named deal teams, disclosed deal values, clients and counterparties, and full lawyer deal histories.
DealDatabase is built and published by Legal Desire. For years every deal announcement we published went into an archive, and the only way to find anything was to scroll. This article explains what the database contains, what is free, what the paid plans add, and five practical ways firms and in-house teams are using it.
Key points
- 10,849 law firm deal announcements, 656 firms, 34,548 lawyers, 6,421 deals with a disclosed value.
- Free to search and browse with no account: deals, advising firms and their roles, deal types, sectors, jurisdictions and firm profiles.
- Every record links back to the original announcement.
- Paid plans: Professional at $99 a month for one user, or Team at $350 a month for five seats, both billed annually. Teams can ask for a 7-day free trial.
- Firms can submit their own deals, and anyone named in a record can ask for it to be corrected.
What is DealDatabase.co?
It is a structured database built from law firm deal announcements, the press releases firms publish when they advise on a transaction. Each announcement is broken into fields: the deal type, the sector, the jurisdictions, the value where one is disclosed, the firms involved and their roles, and the lawyers named on each team. Nothing is guessed. If an announcement does not state something, the field stays empty.
The database is updated twice a day, so new announcements appear within hours of being published.
What is in the database right now?
The mix follows what firms actually announce. By deal type, the largest groups are:
| Deal type | Announcements |
|---|---|
| M&A | 3,671 |
| Capital Markets & IPO | 1,873 |
| Debt Capital Markets | 1,007 |
| Banking & Finance | 903 |
| Private Equity & Buyouts | 826 |
| Venture Capital & Growth | 790 |
| Real Estate | 415 |
| Joint Venture | 394 |
| Project Finance | 294 |
| Energy & Infrastructure | 197 |
The busiest jurisdictions are the United States (1,911 announcements), Germany (1,044), the United Kingdom (894), France (444) and Hong Kong (420). The most active firms include Latham & Watkins, Clifford Chance, Linklaters, Kirkland & Ellis and Hogan Lovells.
One honest caveat. This is a record of published announcements, not a census of every deal in the market. Firms with active press teams announce more of their work, so the database is deepest on the large international firms. Treat counts as “announced deal activity”, not market share. We apply the same rule in our own analysis.
What can you do for free?
No account and no card are needed to:
- Search every deal by keyword, firm, deal type, sector and jurisdiction on the deals page.
- See which firms advised on each deal and in what role.
- Open a firm profile and follow its announced work, deal by deal, from the firm directory.
- Browse by market through the sector and region pages.
- Look up lawyers in the lawyer directory.
- Read the source. Every record links to the original announcement.

Five ways to use it
1. Build credentials and pitch lists
Business development teams can pull every announced deal in a sector and market in minutes. Filter by sector and jurisdiction to see which firms are winning that work and who they act for, then use that to shape a pitch or a credentials document.
2. Track competitors deal by deal
Open a rival firm’s profile and follow its announcements as they arrive. New clients, new sectors and new markets show up as soon as they are announced, not months later in a directory ranking.
3. Find the lawyers who actually lead deals
For lateral hiring and recruiters, the paid plans show named deal teams with seniority, practice and office, and each lawyer’s full deal history. That means a partner’s track record is in one place, not spread across dozens of press releases.
4. Research a market before you advise on it
In-house legal teams choosing outside counsel can see which firms have announced work in a given sector and jurisdiction, and on deals of what size.
5. Check the facts before you publish
Journalists, analysts and researchers get a clean, sourced record of who acted on what. Every entry links to its source.
We use it ourselves. Our analysis of how the practice mix in law firm deal announcements shifted between 2024 and 2026 was built on this data. It found capital markets rising from 14.9 to 19.7 per cent of announcements while M&A fell from 36.5 to 32.4 per cent.
How to get your firm’s deals on the record
Firms can submit a deal directly. Submissions are reviewed before they go live. Legal Desire also continues to publish deal announcements, and those flow into the database automatically. If you send us your firm’s deal news, it reaches both. See Publish with Legal Desire for every option.
Anyone named in a deal can ask for their record to be corrected. Accuracy matters more to us than volume.

Is your firm the one being cited, or the one being skipped?
We ran the test. On several everyday legal questions, software companies are answering and law firms are not. We help firms fix that, and we build the technology behind the practice.
