Senior Advocate of the Calcutta High Court Pratap Chatterjee passed away today at his Raja Basant Roy Road residence in Kolkata. Pratap was in his early seventies and he was the son of former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, who passed away on August 13, 2018. Pratap was said to be very hurt by the sad demise of his father. Pratap allegedly disrespected and ruled out the members of Communist Party of India, when they went to offer respects to the soul of late speaker.
Pratap was an ace lawyer of Calcutta High Court and has represented the defendants in famous case of property dispute of business tycoon Birla family. Pratap Chatterjee was a qualified Barrister from United Kingdom. Pratap was third generation lawyer from his family. Controversial Judge Saumitra Sen was Chamber Junior of Pratap Chatterjee.
Pratap’s son Shashwat Chatterjee is all set to debue his career as a movie director.
