Supreme Court refuses to interfere in West Bengal panchayat polls, disposed BJP’s plea (Read Judgment)

Supreme Court refused to interfere in the upcoming West Bengal’s panchayat polls, saying parties should approach the state election commission with their grievances. The West Bengal unit of the BJP had accused ruling Trinamool Congress party activists of preventing BJP candidates from filing nominations. They told the SC that “democracy is being murdered “in the state and sought the top court’s intervention.

SC disposed the petition by granting liberty to all political parties, their candidates, including any independent candidate/s proposing to contest the election in question, to approach the State Election Commissioner with their any individual or/and collective grievance.
