Ropes & Gray Advises CIVC Partners in Minority Investment in Signers National

Ropes & Gray represented CIVC Partners in a strategic minority investment in Signers National, a tech-enabled insurance distribution platform focused on serving niche insurance markets. Signers National’s largest subsidiary, Lamb Insurance Services, is a retail broker focused exclusively on non-profit and human service organizations. Convelo Insurance Group, Signers’ second largest subsidiary, is a managing general agent and wholesaler focused on non-profit and human service organizations as well as other specialty markets. The investment was announced on November 21. Financial terms were not disclosed.

CIVC Partners is a Chicago-based private equity firm focused on providing growth capital to entrepreneurs and founders. Since 1989, CIVC has invested more than $2.1 billion in 77 platforms.

The Ropes & Gray team that advised CIVC was led by private equity partner Matthew Richards and private equity associates Curt Ostosh and Bill Zimmerman and included tax partner Aaron Harsh and tax associate Alec Oveis, employment & benefits partners Matt Jones and Megan Bisk, private equity partner Greg Bauer and private equity associate Amrita Khemka, and IP transactions partner Violetta Kokolus.
