Linklaters advises on $1.75bn cross-border financing for SoftBank’s acquisition of ABB Robotics

Linklaters has advised the arrangers and underwriters on the $1.75bn equiv. cross-border term loan financing for SoftBank’s acquisition of ABB Robotics.

ABB Robotics is the world’s second-largest industrial robotics manufacturer, with an installed base of more than 430,000 robots across 44 countries. SoftBank agreed to buy the unit for an enterprise value of $5.375bn in a deal announced in October 2025.

The Linklaters team in London was led by leveraged finance partners Pathik Gandhi and Tarini Wettimuny. They were supported by managing associate Connor Hall and associates Tianyu Wang and Taresh Bakshi.

This financing is another example of the market-leading transactions completed by the Linklaters Leveraged Finance team, advising the most sophisticated financial sponsors on some of their largest, most complex and innovative deals in the market.
