Linklaters has advised Glencore, through a team spanning its London and Paris offices, on the negotiation and execution of a long-term offtake and prepayment agreement with Nimba Mining Company (NMC), a company wholly owned by the Republic of Guinea.
Under the agreement, Glencore will provide pre-financing of more than US$300 million and will market between 10 and 12 million tonnes of bauxite per year over a five-year period. The transaction provides Glencore with long-term access to high-quality Guinean bauxite and further strengthens its position across the aluminium value chain.
The Linklaters cross-border, cross-practice team was led by Toby Grimstone, Partner in Banking (London), and Aymeric Voisin, Partner in Energy & Infrastructure (Paris).
The London team comprised Ildar Bagautdinov, Counsel; Liliya Shaydullina, Managing Associate; Jemini Amrania, Managing Associate; Vivian Lee, Associate; Vin Kaushik, Associate; and Tex Hagan, Junior Associate (Banking, Corporate & Structured Lending). The team also included Ian Hunter, Partner (Corporate), and Thomas Chappatte, Counsel (Energy & Infrastructure).
The Paris team included Bertrand Andriani, Partner; Ludovic de Talancé, Managing Associate; Facinet Camara, Associate; Samantha Deversin, Associate; and Kassim Mohamed Ali, Junior Associate (Energy & Infrastructure).
