Linklaters advises ESR on its proposed acquisition of Aquila Clean Energy APAC

Linklaters has advised ESR on its agreement to acquire 100% of Aquila Clean Energy APAC from Aquila Group, a Hamburg-based investment and industrial development company.

Aquila Clean Energy APAC is a renewable energy platform with a 1.6GW portfolio of solar, battery storage and wind assets spanning Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Completion is expected by Q1 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable approvals.

The platform complements ESR’s established logistics real estate and data centre businesses across Asia-Pacific and adds renewable energy capabilities to its adjacent infrastructure portfolio.

The cross-practice, multi-jurisdictional Linklaters team was led by corporate M&A partner Robert Elliot, partner and co-head of Asia energy & infrastructure partner Ying Fu, with support from corporate counsel Daniel Tan and Robert Jefferies and energy & infrastructure managing associate En-Li Lim. The wider team included Chaiyee Oh, Sher Hann Chua, Philip Gilliland, Jemima Ang, Jiwoo Seol, Audrey Loo, Yeung Kai Ho and Ryosuke Azuma.
