Latham Advises on The Carlyle Group’s Acquisition of Occidental’s Onshore Portfolio in Colombia

Latham advised long standing client, global investment firm, The Carlyle Group, on its acquisition of Occidental’s entire onshore portfolio in Colombia for a total consideration of approximately US$825 million, with US$700 million up-front. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in Q4 2020.

The Latham team was led by London corporate partners Sam Newhouse and Simon Tysoe, with New York partner Tony Del Pino, and associates Hector Sants, Alan Rozen, Evelyne Girio, James Thomson, Amrita Ahuja, and Pierre-Axel Aberg. Advice was also provided on tax matters by New York partner David Raab and associate Anne McGinnis; on regulatory matters by Brussels partner Luca Crocco and associate Carlos Betoret; and on intellectual property / transition matters by London partner Deborah Kirk and associate Kirsty Watkins.

Occidental was represented by White & Case, and Bracewell were finance counsel to CIEP.
