Kinetic Advantage, an independent automotive floorplan financing company, has announced that it has received a strategic investment from global investment firm Carlyle and a multi-year forward flow commitment to facilitate the origination of automotive floorplan financing by Kinetic. This partnership will enable Kinetic to increase its origination capacity and improve access to innovative floorplan financing solutions for US dealers. The transaction was led by Carlyle Asset-Backed Finance (Carlyle ABF), a group within Carlyle’s Global Credit platform focused on private fixed income and asset-backed investments.
Latham & Watkins LLP represented Carlyle in the transaction with a Hybrid Capital team led by partners Stelios Saffos and Peter Sluka, Global Co-Chairs of Latham’s Hybrid Capital Practice, and partner Andrew Blumenthal, with associates Ian Lachow and Yulong Li, and a Structured Finance team led by partner Matthew Hays, Global Co-Chair of Latham’s Structured Finance Practice, and counsel Josh Strathman, with associates Danielle Carragher, Gabriella Badmus, and Sungwoo Cho. Advice was also provided on tax matters by partner Elena Romanova, with associate Nicholas Sun; and on executive compensation, employment, and benefits matters by counsel Aryeh Zuber.
