Latham & Watkins advised Moonbug Entertainment Ltd. (Moonbug) on a US$120 million financing round led by Growth Equity (GS Growth), part of Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division, and Fertitta Capital. The Raine Group and Felix Capital also participated. The funds will be used for growth and to make additional acquisitions in the continued drive by Moonbug to consolidate the most interesting and popular properties in the kids space.
Latham also advised Moonbug in in its acquisition of CoComelon, the world’s most-viewed YouTube channel with over 3.5 billion average monthly views.
The London deal team on both transactions was led by corporate partner Farah O’Brien, and associate Jon Fox. Entertainment, sports and media partner Libby Savill and associate Rachael Astin also advised on the CoComelon transaction together with associates Adam Czernikiewicz, Emma Pianta and Erim Tuc. Associates Haya Aftab and Connie Taylor-Cox also advised on the financing round. Latham has advised Moonbug on many aspects of its business since its inception.
