Dubai, 16 September – Global law firm Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has strengthened its Middle East platform with the appointment of Barbara Schwartz as Head of UAE Tax, based in Dubai.
Barbara’s practice involves advising funds, institutional investors, corporate and family office clients on structuring and tax matters for domestic, regional and cross-border transactions. Her focus is on the Private Capital and Real Estate sectors.
Tax is playing an increasingly important role in transactions involving the UAE, following the introduction of the country’s corporate tax regime. Barbara’s expertise will enhance the firm’s ability to support clients on fund structuring, private capital transactions, real estate investments, and infrastructure projects across the Middle East.
James Doyle, Practice Group Leader, Corporate & Finance, commented:
“The Middle East continues to present significant opportunities for our clients, particularly across private capital, real estate, and infrastructure. Barbara has built an impressive UAE tax practice and brings the combination of technical expertise, market knowledge, and entrepreneurial drive that will help us continue to expand our offering in the region.”
Georgy Kalashnikov, Head of the Middle East region, added:
“As our Middle East platform continues to grow, adding a dedicated tax capability is a natural next step. Barbara’s expertise will further strengthen our ability to provide clients with integrated advice across transactions, investments and fund structures.”
Barbara’s appointment reflects the firm’s continued investment in the Middle East and follows the recent arrivals of Banking and Loan Finance partner Adil Hussain in Dubai and Dr Yazid Almasoud, who leads the firm’s Public Policy and Regulatory practice in Saudi Arabia. Together, these appointments further strengthen Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s capabilities across key growth sectors and enhance the firm’s ability to support clients across the region.
