Led by partners Luca Picone (Milan) and Tobias Faber (Frankfurt), global law firm Hogan Lovells has advised the international electrical and electronic components and systems manufacturer WEG S.A. on its acquisition of the motion control business of Gefran S.p.A. an Italian manufacturer of sensors, components and industrial automation equipment. The transaction volume amounts to EUR 23 million.
With the purchase, WEG becomes the sole owner of the Motion Control business unit, which is responsible for the development and production of a complete range of variable frequency drives, DC/DC converters and dedicated servo drives. The scope of the transaction includes Gefran subsidiaries with locations in Italy and Germany.
Hogan Lovells provided comprehensive legal advice to WEG on all legal issues during the transaction. The German team, led by Frankfurt partner Tobias Faber, was primarily focused on the plant and mechanical engineering aspects of the transaction.
