Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer bolsters private equity capabilities with new London hire

Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer announced today that Alex McCarney will be joining the firm as a partner in the Private Equity team, based in London.

Alex joins from Eversheds Sutherland where he was a partner in the Private Capital team in London. He has extensive experience advising financial sponsors from the UK, Europe and the US on buyouts, disposals, co-investments, restructurings and minority investments, and his practice focuses on mid-market private equity transactions.

Alex has extensive experience working on transactions in the professional services, technology, sports, software, infrastructure, healthcare and financial services sectors. Selected clients that Alex has worked with include Aurelius, Equistone Partners Europe (now Equacy Capital Partners), Inflexion and Corient. The hire of Alex aligns with one of the firm’s key strategic focuses to invest in its Private Equity team in London and more broadly across the globe.
