DLA Piper has advised Samworth Brothers on the sale of Walkers Deli & Sausage Company to Pilgrim’s Europe. The transaction, which is subject to approval by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and employee consultation, will see Pilgrim’s Europe acquire the Leicester-based business from Samworth Brothers.
Walkers Deli & Sausage Company is one of the UK’s longest-established producers of premium pork products, with a history dating back to 1824. The business employs approximately 1,150 people in Leicester and produces a range of premium sausages, sliced cooked meats, cooked bacon, snacking products and pâté for leading UK retailers.
A team from DLA Piper’s Corporate practice worked on the transaction led by London-based partner Luca Gori. He was supported by legal director Chloe Bray.
