DLA Piper advises Rocket Lab on its agreement to acquire Sinclair Interplanetary

DLA Piper advised Rocket Lab, a space systems company and the global leader in dedicated small satellite launch, on its agreement to acquire Sinclair Interplanetary. Partners Mike Brown and Jon Olsen led the DLA Piper team advising Rocket Lab.

Founded in 2001, Toronto-based Sinclair Interplanetary develops spacecraft hardware, including reaction wheels and star trackers that support rapid-schedule small satellite programs. More than 90 satellites incorporating Sinclair hardware have been launched to orbit, including Rocket Lab-launched satellites from AstroDigital, ALE and BlackSky.

“Our extensive M&A experience in the aerospace sector and with cross-border deals was an important asset in advising Rocket Lab on its agreement to acquire Sinclair, which will strengthen the company’s satellite division and allow it to deliver more efficient and reliable satellite and launch solutions,” said Brown.

In addition to Brown and Olsen (both of San Diego), the DLA Piper team representing Rocket Lab included partners Robert FonnKevin FritzCatherine PawluchRyan Campbell (all of Toronto), Mark Lehberg (San Diego) and Thomas deButts (Washington, DC); associate counsel Richard Mar (Toronto); and associates Ashton Wiebe (Toronto), Katherine Cheung (Silicon Valley), Kevin Berggren and Jennifer Cumming (both of San Diego).

With more than 1,000 corporate lawyers globally, DLA Piper helps clients execute complex cross-border transactions seamlessly while supporting clients across all stages of development. The firm has been rated number one in global M&A volume for ten consecutive years, according to Mergermarket.
