DLA Piper advised Central Nevada Gold Corp. on its acquisition of the Mule Canyon Gold Mine from Newmont Corporation, a transaction that marks the launch of Central Nevada Gold as a Nevada-focused precious metals development platform. Central Nevada Gold also completed a concurrent financing for total gross proceeds of US$35 million, bringing the aggregate deal value to US$85 million.
The acquired asset is a past-producing, high-grade, open-pit gold mine located near Battle Mountain, Nevada, with an active federal permit, in-place water rights, and grid power on site. Mule Canyon produced approximately 500,000 ounces of gold over five years and will serve as the cornerstone asset for Central Nevada Gold as it advances its strategy to build a multi-asset gold and silver producer in Nevada.
The DLA Piper team was led by Partner Denis Silva (Vancouver) and included Associates Trevor Simpson (Vancouver) and Brendan Smith (Toronto) in Canada, with support in the United States from Partner Oliver Wright (Washington, DC) and Associate Lachlan Nichols (New York).
With more than 1,000 corporate lawyers globally, DLA Piper helps clients execute complex transactions seamlessly while supporting clients across all stages of development. The firm has been rated number one in global M&A volume for 16 consecutive years by Mergermarket.
