Dentons Kazakhstan Banking and Finance team advised ADB on listing and placement of the international green bonds on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange

Abai Shaikenov (Partner), Vassiliy Zenov (Partner), Ali Imanalin (Senior Associate) and Aizhan Zhumagazina (Associate) advised the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on listing and placement of (1) KZT 10.09 billion 10.10% green bonds due in January 2023, and (2) KZT 3.87 billion 10.12% green bonds due in October 2022.

The bond proceeds will be used to finance ADB’s portfolio of climate change adaptation and mitigation projects in Kazakhstan.

“Sustainable finance is at the heart of our work in ADB. By issuing local currency green bonds, ADB supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, mitigates currency risk for our borrowers, and contributes to the development of the Kazakhstan capital market,” said ADB Treasurer Pierre Van Peteghem.

ADB is an international financial institution established on 19 December 1966 with its activities aimed at promoting social and economic development in Asia and the Pacific.
