International law firm Clifford Chance is advising private equity firm Cinven on the financing for the acquisition of the Maroon Group by Barentz, a global speciality ingredients distributor acquired by Cinven in 2019. The transaction includes a comprehensive refinancing for the combined group. Clifford Chance also advised Cinven in relation to the acquisition of Barentz last year.
The acquisition of Maroon, a leading specialty distributor in the US and Canada, is a key milestone to Barentz becoming a global leader in the life science and broader specialty chemical industries.
Clifford Chance has a longstanding relationship with Cinven and recently advised Synlab, the Cinven-backed pre-eminent clinical laboratory services company in Europe, on a €850 million hybrid refinancing, including an innovative and complex extension of loan and floating rate note lines into a new TLB.
The deal team is led by Taner Hassan and Richard Day in London, with Hans Beerlage and Folko de Vries in Amsterdam, and involves a multi-jurisdictional team from across finance, corporate and other practices.
