Clifford Chance advises Iberdrola on 3 GW Irish offshore wind partnership

Clifford Chance has advised Iberdrola on its agreement to acquire a majority stake in DP Energy’s 3 GW offshore wind pipeline in Ireland.

This marks Iberdrola’s first offshore wind investment in Ireland and helps extend its global offshore wind pipeline to more than 30 GW. Three of the Irish projects, the Inis Ealga, Clarus and Shelmalere offshore wind farms, are in the advanced stages of obtaining environmental permits. The first two of these will be developed with floating offshore wind technology.

The Clifford Chance team was led by partners Nicholas Hughes and James Pay, with support from senior associates Jonathan Dillon and Jahan Navidi and lawyers Adesuwa Belo-Osagie and Julian Wuttke. A&L Goodbody advised Iberdrola on the Irish law aspects of the transaction.
