Global law firm DLA Piper bolsters its global Corporate practice with the strategic appointment of Simon Burrows as partner.
Joining the firm’s London office, Simon is a highly regarded corporate lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience advising clients across private capital transactions, public and private acquisitions and disposals, co-investments, joint ventures and governance arrangements. His experience spans complex domestic and cross-border transactions, acting for investors and businesses across the full investment lifecycle.
Simon’s appointment further strengthens the firm’s private capital offering, bringing together experience across M&A, private equity, private credit, restructuring and funds. His broad practice complements DLA Piper’s growing Capital Solutions capabilities and strengthens the firm’s ability to support investors across increasingly complex and cross-border transactions.
His client base includes global asset and alternative investment managers, private equity firms and their portfolio companies, private credit investors, sovereign wealth and pension funds, investment banks, financial markets infrastructure providers, telecommunications groups and specialist technology businesses. His recent matters include a series of multi-billion-dollar acquisitions, spin-offs, minority and co-investments, and asset disposals.
Jon Kenworthy, Global Co-Lead of DLA Piper’s Corporate practice, added: “Simon’s appointment further strengthens the firm’s private capital offering, bringing together experience across M&A, private equity, private credit, restructuring and funds. His broad practice complements DLA Piper’s growing Capital Solutions capabilities and strengthens the firm’s ability to support investors across increasingly complex and cross-border transactions.”
Simon Burrows added: “DLA Piper’s platform, combined with the recent evolution of the firm and its clear ambition for growth, makes this a particularly exciting time to join. I see significant opportunity to build on the strength of the Corporate and private capital offering, working closely with our Private Equity Group and across practices and jurisdictions to support clients on their most important transactions. I am looking forward to contributing to the next phase of the firm’s growth.”
DLA Piper has recently grown its global M&A, Capital Markets, and Private Equity teams with the strategic appointments of Gerd Hegele in Frankfurt, Markjan van Schaardenburgh, Chris Field, and Anthea Bamford in London, Sherlyn Lau and her team in Hong Kong, Charles Ching in Washington, DC, Victor Sapezhnikov in New York, Patrick Leyden in Johannesburg, and Jake Robson in Singapore.
The firm has the world’s strongest M&A practice, ranked by Mergermarket as the leading legal adviser by deal volume for 16 consecutive years, and by PitchBook as the leading European private equity legal adviser for the eighth consecutive year.
