Sidley Advises Emirates Team New Zealand in Groundbreaking America’s Cup Partnership

Sidley is advising Emirates Team New Zealand the current defending champions of the America’s Cup in connection with the formation and launch of the America’s Cup Partnership (ACP or the Partnership), an innovative new venture that will operate the 38th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup and future editions of the event. This historic agreement marks the first time in the 174-year history of the America’s Cup that competing teams will unite under a shared governance and commercial structure to operate competitions, share economics, and enhance engagement with America’s Cup fans globally.

The ACP, which will feature a new governance board with representation from all participating teams, will establish an independent management team focused on commercial growth, long-term investment, and continued innovation. This will ensure that the America’s Cup remains a world-class sporting event, enhancing its commercial value and global standing. The Partnership will be operational from November 1, 2025.

The Sidley team was led by Eric Geffner, Chuck Baker, and Dylan Sherwyn, with support from Nima Mohebbi, Stephen Ballas, and Jake Funk.
