Singapore – Mayer Brown has advised the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on the signing of a US$100 million plus on-lending facility with Viet Nam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) to promote sustainable development and support climate mitigation efforts in Vietnam.
The on-lending facility will allow VPBank to expand support for green and climate-focused activities, in particular, decarbonization of transport through electric vehicle (EV) financing. The facility will also enable more climate financings, climate-resilient investments and sustainable infrastructure, such as renewable energy installations, logistics and warehousing, and green building initiatives.
Ben Thompson, head of Projects & Infrastructure (Asia), commented: “It has been a pleasure to advise AIIB again, this time on a meaningful transaction which is a testament to AIIB and VPBank’s shared vision in supporting Vietnam towards its goal for a greener future. We’re proud to work with AIIB as it continues to invest in infrastructure that fosters sustainable economic development in the region.”
The Mayer Brown Projects & Infrastructure team was led by partner Ben Thompson with support from associate Anna Yin.
