Mayer Brown Adds Derivatives and Commodities Partner Edwin Nazario

Washington, D.C. – Mayer Brown today announced that Edwin J. Nazario has joined the firm’s Capital Markets practice as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. Edwin concentrates his practice on commodities trading, derivatives transactions and Dodd-Frank compliance matters.

Edwin represents energy companies, agricultural companies, petrochemical companies, commodity trading firms, investment banks, advisers and funds. His work connects physical supply, storage, and offtake arrangements with the financing and derivatives structures that support them.

Edwin also advises clients regarding derivatives transactions and futures transactions. He represents clients in connection with the negotiation and documentation of over-the-counter and futures derivatives transactions. He is active in several International Swaps and Derivatives Association working groups. His matters have included transactions in the US and European derivatives markets, as well as derivatives transactions in Asia, Latin America, Australia and Africa.

Edwin also advises clients on derivatives regulatory matters, including compliance for swaps, and regularly works with the CFTC and futures exchanges on compliance matters.

Edwin’s arrival follows that of partner Danielle Abada, who joined from the CFTC, and adds to the firm’s preeminent Derivatives & Structured Products practice as well as complementing the firm’s leading Global Energy practice. Mayer Brown has been named “Americas Law Firm of the Year (Overall)” at GlobalCapital’s Americas Derivatives Awards for five consecutive years, most recently in 2026, and is ranked in Tier 1 by Chambers USA, IFLR1000, and The Legal 500 US in various derivatives and structured products categories.
