Luciano Morello appointed as DLA Piper Country Managing Partner, Italy

Global law firm DLA Piper announces the appointment of Luciano Morello as Country Managing Partner (CMP) for Italy, effective 27 October 2026.

Luciano joined the firm in 2015 and is Head of DLA Piper’s Finance practice and Debt Capital Markets & Structured Finance team in Italy. Admitted to the Rome Bar and a Registered Foreign Lawyer in England & Wales, he operates across Rome, Milan and London and advises leading financial institutions, investment banks, funds, and industrial groups on complex domestic and cross-border debt capital markets, structured finance, capital solutions, and sport finance transactions. Luciano has played a key role in the growth of DLA Piper’s Italian practice and the development of its international client offering.

Luciano succeeds Wolf Michael Kühne, who has served as Country Managing Partner since 2013 and is the founding partner of DLA Piper Italy, which was established in 1993. During his term as CMP, Wolf Michael has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s growth and positioning DLA Piper as one of Italy’s leading business law firms. Under his leadership, the firm expanded its offering, strengthened its core practices and consolidated its position as a trusted adviser on many of the market’s most significant domestic and cross-border mandates. Wolf Michael will continue to play a leading role within the firm as Senior Partner of the Italian practice and Head of the Industrials sector in Italy.

Today, with offices in Milan and Rome, DLA Piper is the largest international law firm operating in Italy and one of the country’s leading legal businesses. The firm advises Italian and multinational clients on domestic and cross-border matters, leveraging the strength of DLA Piper’s global platform across more than 40 countries and 90 offices worldwide.

Wolf Michael Kühne said: “It has been an honour to have founded DLA Piper in Italy, and it is a privilege to continue contributing to the firm’s growth. Looking at the results we have achieved and at the exceptional quality of our people, I am confident that DLA Piper is ideally positioned to navigate its next phase of development successfully. I wish Luciano every success in his new role and am certain that he will lead the firm to new achievements.”

Luciano Morello added: “I am honoured to take on this role at such an exciting time for both our Italian practice and our global firm. DLA Piper enters its next chapter from a position of strength, built on years of sustained growth and the increasing integration of our international platform. Our focus remains on supporting clients as they navigate an increasingly complex economic and regulatory environment. We will continue to invest in our people, foster collaboration across practices, sectors and geographies, and deliver the full strength of DLA Piper’s global capabilities in Italy and beyond. We have a strong platform for future growth and remain committed to further strengthening our position as the leading global law firm in the Italian market.”

Philippe Danesi, Joint Managing Director for Europe, DLA Piper, concluded: “Luciano is a highly respected leader with a strong international outlook and a deep understanding of both our clients and our business. Italy is one of DLA Piper’s most significant markets in Europe and an important part of our global platform. The firm has built an outstanding reputation for advising on complex domestic and cross-border matters, attracting exceptional talent and delivering seamless services through the strength of our global network. We thank Wolf Michael for his vision, leadership and commitment over many years and look forward to supporting Luciano as he leads the next phase of growth in Italy.”
