Linklaters has advised ZE Energy, an independent renewable power producer and a key player in European battery storage solutions, on a co-investment agreement with Octopus Energy Generation, one of Europe’s largest specialist renewables investors, to develop the Sessa Aurunca project in Campania, central-south Italy—a 98.5 MW / 895 MWh standalone battery.
The standalone battery, one of the largest in Italy and scheduled to become operational in 2028, will be able to store up excess green power when generation is high and release it back to meet the daily needs of around 130,000 Italian homes.
The cross-practice and cross-border Linklaters team was led by François April, Partner, with Sinthia Monirul, Associate, in Energy & Infrastructure. The team also included Mehdi Boumedine, Partner, and Juline Pottiez, Associate, in Corporate/M&A, as well as Pierre Zelenko, Partner, and Antoine Réco, associate, in Antitrust & Foreign Investment. The Milan team included Francesco Eugenio Pasello and Alessandra Ghezzi, both Counsel in Corporate/M&A, as well as Alessandro Gemmo, Managing Associate in Public Law.
