Linklaters has advised the sponsors, TotalEnergies and SARIA, on the project financing by borrower TESSAF SAS for the construction of a biorefinery at Grandpuits, France, capable of producing 230 kt of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) per annum. The financing closed in February 2026.
The Grandpuits biorefinery forms a central part of the sponsors ongoing conversion of the Grandpuits refinery into a zero-crude platform. The project represents a significant milestone in the energy transition, supporting the decarbonisation of the aviation sector through the large-scale production of SAF.
The Linklaters team was led by Energy & Infrastructure Partner Stephen Le Vesconte (London), with Counsel Soraya Salem (Paris), Partner Bertrand Andriani (Paris), Partner Aymeric Voisin (Paris), Associate Sinthia Monirul (Paris) and Associate Paige Pittorino(London).
The team coordinated advice across multiple jurisdictions, with Partner Anne-Sophie Vankemmelbeke, Junior Associate Merel Brandt and Associate Seline Akdeniz advising on Belgian law matters (Brussels), and Partner Thomas Schulz and Solicitor Maximilian Volmar advising on German law matters (Berlin).
