Linklaters advises Renner Energies on the negotiation of a Virtual PPA with Google

Linklaters Paris has advised Renner Energies, a BlackRock portfolio company, on the signing of a long-term virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Google in relation to the energy generated by a portfolio of greenfield onshore wind farms currently in development in Belgium.

Renner Energies estimates that the VPPA will enable Google to reduce its emissions by approximately 27,000 tons of CO₂ per year, amounting to 410,000 tons over the contract’s full duration—the equivalent of the annual emissions from 17,000 households.

This agreement reflects the shared commitment of both companies to accelerate the energy transition and reduce carbon footprint.

The Linklaters team was led by Samuel Bordeleau, partner, and Farah Guedouar, associate, in Energy & Infrastructure.

The Brussels office was also involved (Melissa Verplancke and Laure Driessen, associates).
