Linklaters advises on Valency International’s US$60m guaranteed green bond issuance

Linklaters has advised the placement agent on Valency International Pte. Ltd.’s issuance of US$60m 7.488% guaranteed senior unsecured green bonds due 2036.

The bonds are guaranteed by the Green Guarantee Company, the world’s first climate-focused financial guarantor established to mobilise private investment for green infrastructure and development projects in emerging markets, and are expected to be listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange at a later stage, pursuant to bond documentation. The issuance is one of the first corporate bond issuances guaranteed by the Green Guarantee Company.

The bonds were issued under Valency International’s Green Finance Framework. The bonds have received Climate Bonds Certification and are the first bonds certified under the Climate Bonds Initiative’s new Bioenergy Criteria.

The Linklaters team was led by partner and Head of South and Southeast Asia Capital Markets Amit Singh and capital markets partner Xunming Lim, with support from Calvin Cheng, Chloe Choo and Matilda Anderson.

Amit Singh, partner and Head of South and Southeast Asia Capital Markets at Linklaters, commented:

“This transaction shows how guarantees can help attract institutional investment into green projects in emerging markets. We are pleased to have supported the placement agent on this important financing. Congratulations to Valency International and everyone involved.”
