A Linklaters team in Paris led by Anne Wachsmann, partner in Antitrust and Foreign Investment, is advising Groupement Les Mousquetaires, one of France’s largest retail groups, in relation with the acquisition with Auchan Retail of 313 Casino Groupe hypermarkets and supermarkets representing a turnover of approximately EUR 3.6 billion excluding VAT (excluding petrol).
On 18 December 2023, Groupement Les Mousquetaires, Auchan Retail and Groupe Casino entered into exclusive negotiations for the proposed sale of Groupe Casino hypermarkets and supermarkets to Groupement Les Mousquetaires and Auchan Retail, based on a fixed enterprise value of EUR 1.35 billion (excluding property). The scope of the points of sales represents a turnover of around EUR 3.6 billion excluding VAT (excluding petrol).
Following the acquisition of a first group of Groupe Casino points of sale at the end of September 2023, this proposed acquisition of Casino Groupe hypermarkets and supermarkets by Groupement les Mousquetaires will enable our client to continue its growth in France.
