Latham & Watkins has advised Octopus Ventures and Northern Gritstone as lead investors on the £5.6 million Series Seed funding round of Pencil Biosciences, a biotech company developing a full synthetic gene modulation and editing platform. The technology will impact a wide range of applications, including new therapeutic options for patients with rare diseases and cancer.
The round was led by Octopus Ventures and Northern Gritstone, with participation from Martlet Capital and existing investors including GMC Life Sciences Fund, UKI2S, and o2h Ventures.
The Latham team was led by London corporate partner Shing Lo, with associates Samantha Peacock and Venice Ma.
