Latham Advises Coca-Cola HBC on US$2.6 Billion Acquisition of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa

Coca-Cola HBC has announced it has entered into a definitive sale and purchase agreement to acquire a 75% shareholding in Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Pty Ltd (CCBA) from The Coca-Cola Company (The Coca-Cola Company or TCCC) and Gutsche Family Investments Pty Ltd (GFI) for a combined purchase price of US$2.6 billion.

The acquisition allows Coca-Cola HBC to enhance its operational capabilities and market presence across the African continent. CCBA, the largest bottler of TCCC’s products in Africa, operates in 14 countries and serves over 600 million consumers. This transaction underscores Coca-Cola HBC’s commitment to investing in Africa’s growth potential and delivering value to its stakeholders.

Latham & Watkins represents Coca-Cola HBC in the regulatory aspects of the transaction, with a Brussels team led by Antitrust & Competition partners Luca Crocco and Christos Malamataris, with associates Eva Beyer Blumental and Panos Kokkinidis, with assistance from Klearchos Lazanas.
