Kirkland & Ellis advised the Audi Group on a significant minority investment of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) in Sauber Holding AG, Audi’s future Formula 1 factory team.
With this strategic investment, QIA, the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar, is taking a stake in Audi’s F1 Project as a long-term investor and partner. The Four Rings will officially enter Formula 1 with a factory team with the change of the technical regulations in 2026.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. The Kirkland team included transactional lawyers Tobias Larisch and Tamara Zehentbauer; and tax lawyer Michael Ehret.
