Legal Counsel, Litigation and Copyright

Website Spotify

Spotify’s in-house legal team in New York is adding a litigation counsel to handle a growing caseload of copyright, content and, increasingly, patent disputes. The role sits at the centre of contentious matters: steering pre-litigation and live cases, directing outside counsel on strategy and budgets, and working with the communications team when disputes become public.

Beyond case management, the counsel will advise business teams on avoiding disputes in the first place, respond to subpoenas and law enforcement requests, and build repeatable processes, training and policies so the team can scale as claim volumes rise.

You’ll likely be a fit if you have:

  • A law degree and eligibility to practise as in-house counsel in New York
  • 5+ years of litigation experience at a firm, in-house or both, with real patent litigation exposure
  • Hands-on e-discovery experience and a track record on complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes
  • Comfort with technical subject matter and the ability to explain patent issues to non-lawyers
