London, 2 July 2026 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has advised Michele Kang on her acquisition of a majority stake in Eagle Football Group S.A., the listed parent company of French football team, Olympique Lyonnais.
Michele Kang has acquired approximately 87.78% of EFG’s share capital from Eagle Football Holdings Bidco Limited (in administration), for an aggregate price of USD 30 million.
The transaction represents one of the most complex and high-profile cross-border restructurings in recent European football history. It forms part of a wider financial reorganisation of the Olympique Lyonnais group, including a debt reprofiling with its existing senior secured lenders and the injection of significant new funding by Michele Kang.
Following completion, Olympique Lyonnais has exited the Eagle Football Group structure with a strengthened financial position, having secured its place in Ligue 1 for the 2026/2027 season, following a decision of the French football regulator, the DNCG.
The Hogan Lovells Cadwalader team was led by partners Katie Gill (Banking) and Naomi Parmar (Restructuring and Special Situations). The London team also included senior associates David Antrobus (Restructuring and Special Situations), Simon Cowell (Banking) and Oliver Travers (Banking); associates Betty Yang and Rhona Baillie (Restructuring and Special Situations); James Thorne (Banking); and trainee solicitor Yun Xin Teoh (Restructuring and Special Situations).
Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s Paris office advised on all French law aspects of the transaction, including French corporate, tax and securities laws and was led by partners Jean-Marc Franceschi, Christophe-Marc Juvanon (M&A) and Xenia Legendre (Tax). The Paris team also included senior associate Maximilien Schmitt (Tax) and associates Barthélémy Montpezat (M&A) and Elif Gocmen (M&A).
