Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer has advised one of the project developers, low-carbon utility company ENGIE, on the bid submission, development, construction, and financing aspects of the Khazna (PV4) solar power project in Abu Dhabi.
The project is a key pillar of Abu Dhabi’s strategic plans to increase solar power generation capacity beyond 18GW by 2035. The project, once complete, will have a capacity of 1.5GW, enough electricity to power approximately 160,000 homes across the UAE, avoiding more than 2.4 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions in Abu Dhabi per year.
