Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer advises ALTEN on the acquisition of the KLANIK group

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer advised ALTEN, a global leader in Engineering and IT Services listed on Euronext Paris, on its acquisition of the KLANIK Group, an IT consulting and engineering firm, from KLANIK Holding.

Founded in 2011 and based in Marseille, the KLANIK Group supports the digital transformation of major national and international players through an offering structured around five areas of expertise: Data & AI, DevOps Cloud, Cybersecurity, Software, and Agile Product Management. The group employs more than 800 people in 10 countries and generated revenue of €69 million in 2025.

This acquisition represents a significant step in ALTEN’s targeted external growth strategy and strengthens its position in IT Services as well as its consulting and digital services capabilities for large companies.

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer advised ALTEN at every stage of this transaction, conducting the legal due diligence, negotiating the exclusivity agreement, managing the employee representative information and consultation process, and preparing all transaction documentation.

The firm also handled competition law aspects and the notification to the Competition Authority for merger control purposes, before providing legal oversight of the target group’s prior reorganization and successfully completing the acquisition on May 6, 2026.
