Global law firm DLA Piper advised Lanas Healthcare Technology Limited (Lanas) on its agreement to acquire indici, a New Zealand-based provider of cloud-based electronic health record and practice management software.
The transaction will further expand Dublin-headquartered Lanas’ presence in New Zealand’s healthcare technology sector, following its earlier acquisitions of HealthLink, Toniq, and KonnectNET.
Indici provides cloud-based clinical and practice management technology, including electronic health records, e-prescribing, telehealth, population health, and patient engagement capabilities. The platform is used by more than 250 healthcare organisations and supports over two million digital health records in New Zealand.
Lanas, which is majority owned by TA Associates, builds, acquires and grows healthcare technology products used across primary care, community care, pharmacy, specialist settings, and connected healthcare systems. It is headquartered in Dublin Ireland and operates across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The DLA Piper team was led by corporate partner Reuben Woods, with support from Nick Valentine (technology and data), Steph McQuaid (corporate), Tayla McEntee (corporate), William Britton (corporate) and the broader firm.
Commenting on the acquisition, Ronan Lennon, chief legal officer at Lanas said, “This is an important transaction for Lanas and a significant step in our long-term commitment to New Zealand’s healthcare technology sector. DLA Piper were a trusted partner throughout the process, and we’re grateful to Reuben and the wider team for their support.”
“Congratulations to Howard, Ronan, Rob, Conor and the Lanas team on bringing indici into the group. Alongside HealthLink, Toniq and KonnectNET, it extends Lanas’ New Zealand presence into general practice, and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed supporting them on the deal. This transaction reflects the continued international interest in established New Zealand technology businesses and the innovation and activity going on in our healthcare and healthtech sector”, added Reuben Woods.
The agreement forms part of Lanas’ planned investment in New Zealand’s healthcare technology sector over the next two years.
