DLA Piper has advised a consortium of banks – Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), PKO Bank Polski and mBank S.A., on financing worth PLN376 million to Galia Green Power, with Eiffel Investment Group participating as investor, for the development of biogas and biomethane projects in Poland. Biomethane, a renewable fuel produced locally from organic waste, is gaining increasing importance as a key contributor to Poland’s energy security and independence.
The financing covers both the acquisition of operational biogas plants and the further expansion of the platform’s portfolio, including the upgrade of existing facilities and the construction of new biomethane production plants. The scale and scope of the transaction make it a landmark transaction in the Polish market, representing one of the largest financings of its kind in the country in recent years.
A cross-border and multidisciplinary team from DLA Piper’s Warsaw office and the CEE Hub based in Budapest, led by counsel Karen Young, worked on the transaction under the leadership of Finance partner Katarzyna Wacławek. She was supported by partner Oskar Waluśkiewicz,senior associates Alicja Ciebiera and Bartłomiej Grela, associate Paweł Szostek, and junior associate Marcin Wojnarowicz.
