Dentons Cardenas & Cardenas acted as local counsel to Welli Colombia S.A.S. in connection with a credit facility of up to US$75 million granted by Community Investment Management (“CIM”), aimed at financing Welli’s loan portfolio in Colombia. Our Banking & Finance practice group led the negotiation of the credit facility agreement, the trust structuring, and additional collateral instruments governed by Colombian law.
The financing was fully provided by CIM, an institutional impact investment manager that delivers strategic debt capital to support and scale responsible innovation in lending to underserved communities. The funds will be used to accelerate Welli’s mission of becoming the strategic financial partner for healthcare providers, physicians/doctors, and patients in Colombia, as well as in new markets across Latin America.
This transaction stands out not only for its size but also for its potential to evolve into a more sophisticated financial structure. It reflects the team’s expertise in navigating complex negotiations and designing innovative legal frameworks tailored to dynamic business models.
