Clifford Chance advises OMS on its US$400 million investment by KKR to accelerate growth of its digital infrastructure

Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised telecommunications infrastructure company OMS Group (OMS) on the strategic investment of US$400 million by KKR, a leading global investment firm, to accelerate the growth of OMS’ digital infrastructure through expanding its ship fleet size and capabilities, and growing its cable landing stations and subsea cable routes in South East Asia.

The deal was led by Singapore partner Melissa Ng, with support from senior associates Wesley Tan and David Ho.

Melissa said, “Digital infrastructure, which encompasses subsea cables, data centres and telecommunications networks, are the backbone of the internet, enabling the increasing data transmissions and connectivity of the global economy. Investments in digital infrastructure companies and assets will naturally continue to grow, and we are proud to advise OMS as it develops its digital infrastructure in the region. This deal builds on our track record advising on major infrastructure deals across the region and globally.”

OMS provides integrated solutions for subsea cable installation and maintenance projects, and is one of the largest independent operators in this sector.

Clifford Chance has advised on several significant infrastructure M&A and financing deals in Asia, including advising AGP on Stonepeak’s investment in its sustainable real assets, the financing of Hai Long’s offshore wind farm project in Taiwan and India’s largest data centre financing deal.
