Clifford Chance advises Continental on the sale of ContiTech to Lone Star Funds

Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised Continental AG on the sale of its ContiTech business area to an affiliate of Lone Star Funds. The purchase price is €4 billion, plus performance-related components of up to €250 million in subsequent years. Completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

With the sale of ContiTech, Continental is completing its strategic realignment and will in future focus fully on its tire business. Lone Star Funds will acquire all of ContiTech’s global business activities.

ContiTech is one of the world’s leading industrial specialists for materials solutions and has around 22,000 employees. In the 2025 financial year, the company generated revenue of approximately €4.4 billion. ContiTech has strong materials and technology expertise in products and systems made from rubber and thermoplastic materials and serves a wide range of industrial end markets, including mining, energy, construction and infrastructure, off-highway and mobility applications, and industrial manufacturing.

Lone Star Funds is a leading investment firm and adviser to funds that invest globally in private equity, credit and real estate. The firm has extensive experience in the industrial sector and in complex transactions.
