Latham & Watkins LLP has advised Brookfield on a joint venture for the acquisition of a portfolio of light industrial assets in Sweden from EQT. Through its Private Real Estate Solutions strategy (BRES), Brookfield is recapitalizing a portfolio of 33 modern light-industrial assets in infill markets in Greater Stockholm and Mälardalen, one of Sweden’s most dynamic economic regions.
Brookfield will be the majority owner of the assets and has formed a joint venture with local operating partner and entrepreneurial asset manager Broadgate, which has managed the portfolio for the past years and will reinvest into the transaction.
The portfolio totals 144,000 square meters and largely comprises warehouses, light-industrial properties, and other last-mile uses with high occupancy rates. It is anchored by a diversified tenant base, including several blue-chip firms.
The Latham team was led by private equity real estate partner Otto von Gruben and associate Ivo Wanwitz, with associates Christopher Cox, Sebastian von Hornung, Marie-Christine Welp, and Astrid Preuss. Advice was also provided on finance matters by associates Anna-Maria Kuckerz and Verena Birke.
