Global law firm Dentons has advised a group of investors on the acquisition of the long-established Lower Saxony-based company Schöma Lokomotiven from insolvency.
The acquisition was carried out as an asset deal. In addition to securing approximately 90 jobs and ensuring the continuation of the Schöma brand, the deal will help ensure the long-term stability and growth of the company. Under the new name “Schöma Lokomotiven GmbH,” the company will continue to operate as an independent unit, maintaining its core business of locomotive construction. In the medium term, the locomotive construction company will become part of a holding company.
Schöma (formerly “Christoph Schöttler Maschinenfabrik GmbH,” now “Schöma Lokomotiven GmbH”), based in Diepholz, is a leading manufacturer of tunnel locomotives and offers its customers individual transport solutions as well as customized rail vehicles.
A team from Dentons, led by partner Dr. Christoph Papenheim in Frankfurt, provided comprehensive support to the buyer in the M&A process, labor law, and restructuring matters.
