Global law firm Ashurst has advised Sydney Metro on their A$217 million contract with BESIX Watpac to build the Barangaroo metro station. The station forms part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, Australia’s largest public transport project, which is due to open in 2024

Sitting 30 metres below ground, the strategically significant Barangaroo metro station will provide public transport access to local residential, commercial and entertainment areas and a new ferry hub. The contract includes the station fit out, building a station entrance next to Nawi Cove and upgrading Hickson Road.

The new station will include bike facilities, bus stops and taxi facilities. Tunnelling and excavation began at the Barangaroo station precinct in October 2019 and is now complete after two years of work to remove about 650,000 tonnes of dirt and rock.
