DLA Piper has advised POSCO International Corporation on their further USD40 million investment into Black Rock Mining Limited (ASX: BKT).

“We are thrilled to have advised POSCO on this investment, which further entrenches its relationship with Black Rock Mining. This investment will contribute to the development of a long life, global graphite resource of scale,” said Perth-based Matthew Watkins, Partner, DLA Piper.

“Once in production, the project will provide a significant new source of natural graphite into a highly dependent global market driven by clean energy demand,” Matthew added.

DLA Piper’s Australian team was led by Matthew Watkins (Partner, Corporate) and Alex Jones (Co-Chair, Energy & Natural Resources), assisted by Nick Sceales (Special Counsel, Finance) and Kirsty Hall (Senior Associate, Corporate). In South Korea the team was led by Daniel Lee (Partner, Corporate), assisted by Robert Song (Senior Associate, Corporate). In Tanzania the team was led by Angela Mndolwa (Partner) and Burure Ngocho (Partner), assisted by Pascal Mwanyika (Senior Associate).

“DLA Piper deployed an integrated team of mining experts across our Perth, Seoul and Dar es Salaam offices, who together assisted POSCO on their strategic partnership with Black Rock,” said Alex Jones, Global Co-Chair, Energy & Natural Resources, DLA Piper.

“The mandate was a strong demonstration of our capacity to navigate cross-border transactions,” Alex added.
