Clearway Energy Group has announced that it closed more than US$700 million in construction financing and has begun construction on two major energy projects in Fresno and San Bernardino Counties in California. Luna Valley is a 200 MW solar project in Fresno County. Daggett Storage is a 113.5 MW standalone battery energy storage project in San Bernardino County and is the final phase of the 482 MW Daggett Solar + 394 MW Storage complex.
Latham & Watkins advised Clearway Energy Group on the financing with a project finance team led by San Diego partner Omar Nazif, with associates Annelise Karreman, Ashley Pappenfus, Jesse Van Genugten, Nanni Kim, and Josh Lin. Advice was also provided on hedging matters by New York partner Carlos Alvarez, with associate Tiiu Lemsalu; and on tax matters by New York partner Eli Katz, with associate Michael Syku.
